Critical infrastructure is defined by consequence. When a data centre, substation or communications facility goes down, the loss is not the building — it is everything downstream of it. That changes what protection has to achieve.

Amidon materials are specified where the requirement is continuity: stopping a threat at the envelope so the systems inside keep running. The same core material is configured for ballistic, blast, forced-entry and, where required, electromagnetic protection.
